Nutrition in the fitness industry is a hot topic to say the least. There are various food philosophies ranging from the idea that you can eat whatever you want as long as you workout or that you need to spend hundreds of dollars a month on supplemental diet and food replacement plans to be healthy. While there are usually partial truths to most of these mindsets, my food philosophy is based off of nutrition science and personal experience and I believe that healthy, permanent weight loss and living a healthy lifestyle is primarily contingent upon a person's diet. When helping someone reach their fitness and weight loss goals, the topic of nutrition and diet cannot be ignored or "brushed under the rug" with a good workout

It's simple science to one extent - if you are consuming more energy (calories) than you are burning, then it will be stored as excess fat. In addition, if you are not over-consuming energy (calories), but not taking in enough nutrients (vitamins, minerals, proteins, healthy fats, fiber, etc...), then your body will not be working to it's fullest capability (weakened immune systems, lower recover rates and muscle growth, etc...). It's about a balance of consuming the correct amount of energy plus (and often more importantly) the correct balance of macro and micronutrients. Food is meant to heal and fuel your body, not harm it. While there are various "diets" out there, I believe nature has given us what we need in real foods in order to heal, strengthen and fuel our bodies. For me, being a provider of meals is more than just a mere chore; it is what keeps my family healthy. It’s our health insurance investment. Food in our home is a source of energy and my children have learned that some foods make us strong (even if we don't like the taste) and some foods are eaten in small amounts or special occasions (Friday night is ice cream night in our house). Food is an important part of our home as it is for everyone's, which is why we believe that everyone should have a food journey and I hope that I can help you with yours!
